About Little Miss Teach

Let me introduce myself. My name is Katie Wilson, the face behind Little Miss Teach's avatar. Are you sitting comfortably? I'm going to take you on a brief journey to how this all came about.

After qualifying from University in 2007, I returned back home to Cheltenham, a town that I love and I am still currently living in. For many years I found myself teaching in several schools across Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury and Stroud. Within each school, meeting new people and learning and widening my skills. With a specialism in Computing I was always called upon as tech support too.

In 2012 I secured a teaching role at a school in Gloucester which inevitably armed me and moulded me into the teacher I am proud to call myself today. I soon became a  member of the leadership team and was well respected by my colleagues for my passion and drive to succeed. During my 11 years of being employed there, I was able to work across many year groups - often faced with extreme, diverse behaviours and needs and like anyone would say, certainly no two days were ever the same! The long hours and blood, sweat and tears were all worth it and any teacher that gets fulfilment and pleasure from this will understand what I am talking about. Those lightbulb moments and comments from the children are the reasons why we came to work in education.

I was the founder of Gloucester Computing Conference in 2015/2016/2017 which challenged and pushed me out of my comfort zone and the skills involved in juggling this and teaching full time was...let's say all worth it in the end!

I have led Gloucester Schools' Partnership (GSP) Computing meetings over the years, networking with like-minded Computing specialists to enhance the curriculum and delivery of what we offer the pupils in our schools.

If this wasn't enough, I have survived teaching during two lockdowns, both remotely and teaching the key worker pupils in school. This was something I can look back on and feel proud of. Supporting and managing the setup of 'Home Learning' across our platform from Reception to Year 6 and supporting families with any access problems like navigating their way around and how to submit their learning online.

So 2022 soon arrived and I had the delight of welcoming a beautiful baby girl into the world and starting a family. Maternity leave gave me a lot of time to reflect and I found a desire to want to start my own business whilst remaining in education.

Along came 'Little Miss Teach' and the name derived from the name I often get called as 'Little Miss Sunshine' as a positive and smiley person, therefore 'Little Miss Teach' made sense. Completing a business course during my maternity leave allowed me to get everything in place before getting myself out there and getting known. Watch this space...launching over the summer of 2023 and the diary is open ready for bookings!
